For all the countless and chaotic changes that the internet has undergone in its relatively brief existence, one thing has remained consistent: the content that it is home to remains unpredictable. A mixed tapestry woven from viral garbage and weirdly specific memes is beautiful, in its own way. It may be a mess, but it is a mess that we made.

What makes this so compelling is the fact that we usually can't predict what will come next, and how various fragments that already exist online will combine to make something wild. This is what makes the experience entertaining and, in many ways, worth enduring the more exhausting aspects of the internet. Many of us put up with all the noise for the sake of the memes. It is an ever-growing narrative of nonsense that has kept us successfully hooked for years.

Of course, what can be found here is only the smallest slice of what the internet has to offer. Maybe that is for the best, considering how easy it is to get overwhelmed with the sheer amount of detritus that floats around online nowadays. It is better to take it in pieces, rather than all at once.
